A Task Force on Child Abuse in ISKCON was created by the GBC in 1997. As a result of the recommendations of that Task Force, the ISKCON Central Office of Child Protection was established, which is incorporated as The Association for the Protection of Children.

The CPO central office is located in Alachua, Florida. The office is currently staffed by Champakalata devi dasi, CPO Director, and Mahavisnupriya devi dasi, Assistant Director

Champakalata devi dasi , IDS (Vasanthie Pillai) — CPO Director

Champakalata devi dasi received her law degree in 1992, and has been a practicing attorney in criminal law, real estate law, and labor law. She is a Presiding Officer for the Department of Labor of South Africa and helps arbitrate labor disputes and compensation claims. She also has a post-graduate degree in Education and is a certified teacher.

In her devotional career, she has served as Head of Legal Affairs as well as Communications Director for ISKCON Durban. Her twenty years of communications and public relations experience will be particularly helpful in her new position, as will her legal and teaching background. She has been especially active with child protection in South Africa, and is head of the Durban Child Protection Team.

Mahavisnupriya devi dasi, ACBSP (Carissa Cranmer, LCSW) — CPO Assistant Director,
 
Mahavisnupriya devi dasi ACBSP ( aka Carissa Cranmer, LCSW) came to Krishna Consciousness in 1975 and accepted both first and second intiation from Srila Prabhupada in Hawaii.  She has served with the Child Protection Office since its inception in various capacities but is currently Assistant Director of the CPO.
 
Mahavisnupriya worked as a clinical social worker with the Department of the Navy for 22 years serving military families.  For the last 12 years of her employment, she was Division Manager of Victim Services for the Navy's Fleet and Family Services Center at Kings Bay, GA.   She had supervison over the Navy's Child Abuse programs, Sexual Assualt Prevention Programs, Domestic and Family Violence program and the Center's Crisis Line.  She also performed extensive training for the military in their Family Ombudsman program.
 
She is retired and living in Alachua, FL with her husband and serves on the Child Protection Team, the Ashraya Community Care team, as well as assisting community members in need.  She has three grandchildren.
